
Hazizan Md Akil is a Professor of Polymer Composites at the Universiti Sains Malaysia. He leads research on the various aspects of polymer composites includes some aspects of mechanics of composite using Instrumented Drop Weight Impact Tester and Split Hopkinson Bar Apparatus. He has won a number of research grants nationally and internationally, including those from the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB), TechnoFund (MOSTI), ERGS (MOHE), Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS from Academy Sciences of Malaysia) and INTEL Corporation. He has published over 79 papers in peer-reviewed journals (ISI) and more than 60 proceedings at local and international levels. His research interests include polymer composites (natural and synthetic), impact, sandwich structures and polymers.
Hazizan Md Akil’s Specialties:
Research and development on natural fibre reinforced polymer composites, sandwich structures and biopolymers. Also undertaken research activities on mechanics of composites and low velocity impact together with Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar Apparatus.
